2) nach Art der Aussagen (verbunden mit dem Erkenntnisweg oder -methode)
2.1 Naturwissenschaftlich orientierte/erzeugte Theorien (empirisch Herangehensweise)
2.2 Geisteswissenschaftliche Herangehensweise die geisteswissenschaftliche Theorien produziert

Soziale Arbeit als Begriff hat mindestens die folgenden drei Bedeutungen:
a) Soziale Arbeit als Beruf / Profession,
Profession als besondere Art von Beruf
Soziale Arbeit ist keine Berufsbezeichnung, das geht sprachlich nicht: jemand der Soziale Arbeit erlernt hat, dessen Berufsbezeichnung ist ... Sozialarbeiterin
b) Soziale Arbeit als Praxis / Tätigkeit und
c) Soziale Arbeit als Wissenschaft.
Demnach kann man sagen, jemand die oder der die (Wissenschaft) Soziale Arbeit studiert hat, kann den Beruf der Sozialarbeiterin ausüben und verrichtet Soziale Arbeit (als Tätigkeit).
Soziale Arbeit als Profession wird von manchen verstanden, als umfasse es die Praxis Sozialer Arbeit aber nicht die Wissenschaft Soziale Arbeit (quellen)
Andere wiederum schließen die Wissenschaft in die Profession mit ein (Engelke, ...). Dies ist die Ansicht im angelsächsischen Raum (The profession of social work ....Quelle)
